Last night my next door neighbor had a crazy ridiculous fit where he was throwing things, kicking the wall, all while he slept. It happened at about 1:30 in the morning and was quite scary. I didn’t say a word. I tried to keep quiet because it was off the hook nuts! All I kept thinking was, “…goodness I hope he doesn’t have a gun.” It was pretty clear he was having some weird nightmare – I don’t know if he was sleep walking or what, but he kept kicking the walls and you could hear stuff falling off the shelves. At some point I thought maybe I was the one dreaming. Maybe I’m the one having the nightmare? I went to kitchen, drank a little water and got back in bed. I blew it off and just assumed it was my own sleepy bad dream instead.
A little while later, it happened again. I was totally freaked out! What the hell? Should I call the police? Should I knock on the wall and wake him up? I was frozen. Not sure exactly what to do – I went back into the kitchen and sat at the table listening for more of his crazy mumbling and weird violence. So surreal.
The worst part of it is I knew he was sleeping. In between I could hear him snore and breathe deeply and I kept thinking, “I so have to move some place with lots of land and trees and no one near me…”. Then I thought, I’d be scared of what’s in the woods, what’s in the dark? And then on the nights I am alone, I’d be afraid that there was no one around to help – what if no one was around in this spacious, foresty place and something happened?
Goodness. What a scary night.
At some point he stopped. I don’t know why he stopped, but I found my way over to the couch and fell back asleep only to wake this morning with a horrible, horrible pain in my neck. My next door neighbor has woken up and started his morning as if nothing even happened…. I bet he thinks we had a little earthquake or something and that’s why his stuff is on the floor. Ugghhh!
I wonder if I should tell him?
What a weird and scary night.
